Carmalyn Lashley, M.S., LCMFT— Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapist

We all need connection to feel complete. But finding, creating, and keeping connection can be brutally hard. Relationships are hard, and life can hand us things we are not prepared to deal with. I love walking along with people on their journey. I’m deeply moved by the work people do for repair and healing. I would love to sit down with you and hear your story…without judgement and with compassion for your struggle. I am a systemic therapist which means whether I’m working with you individually, you and your partner, or multiple members of your family, I’m considering all the other important lives that touch yours and the impact each has on the other. I also know that you aren’t what you are struggling with. Your issue doesn’t define you as a person. Please give me a call or send me an email so we can discuss what’s going on with you and how I can help.

Julie Cunningham M.S., LCMFT — Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapist

I have been blessed to start Midwest Integrative Marriage & Family Therapy and now I am happy that the torch is being passed to the dedicated and skilled therapist that I have been privileged to work with over the past several years. Our mission has always been to provide quality mental health services that is affordable to our community.

I have recently moved from doing conventional therapy full-time, to concentrating on areas of interest that I have always been passionate about. I have spent the majority of my life in the medical field and now I am working with medical front line responders through The Battle Within. I am also starting the process of volunteering for the Red Cross in the areas of Service to the Armed Forces and to the disaster relief team as a therapist.

Candice Baker M.S., LPC — Licensed Professional Counselor

It is with great enthusiasm that I introduce myself as a new member of the Midwest Integrative Marriage &  Family Therapy team.

My journey began in the heart of Macon, Georgia, where I was raised and later developed a profound commitment to serving others. In 2018, I embraced a new chapter by moving to Kansas, bringing with me not only personal belongings but also a deep-seated passion for helping individuals and families on their journeys toward healing and wholeness.

Throughout the majority of my life, I have been privileged to walk alongside people from various backgrounds, providing services tailored to those most in need. Whether in clinical, community, or outreach settings, my focus has always been on fostering resilience, offering support, and helping others rediscover hope amid their struggles. I am especially dedicated to assisting those who are working to heal from current or past trauma. I believe that everyone has the capacity for growth and change, and my role as a therapist is to create a safe, empathetic space where individuals can explore their stories, build coping skills, and move forward with renewed strength. Guiding clients through their unique healing processes is both a responsibility and an honor that I hold close to my heart.

As I settle into my role at Midwest Integrative Marriage & Family Therapy, my goal is to collaborate with clients and colleagues alike, contributing to a supportive environment grounded in respect, compassion, and integrative care. I am eager to connect with this community, share in its values, and continue my lifelong commitment to service and healing.

Jennifer Saylor, M.A., LPC — Licensed Professional Counselor

I believe in people’s capacity for change—whether they’re carrying the weight of what they’ve been through or what they struggle with having done. I bring an accepting and non-judgmental presence to our work together. You can feel at ease knowing there’s nothing you need to hide. No topic is off limits, and no thought or feeling is unwelcome. The ways you’ve learned to respond to or cope with life often made sense—they’ve gotten you this far. But if they’re holding you back now, I provide a space for you to explore this with compassion and curiosity.
I work with young adults and adults navigating anxiety, depression, addiction, and relationship challenges. My goal is to help you know yourself better, clarify what matters most, and let go of shame that’s kept you from living fully. I provide a no-cost consultation—please call or email to see if this feels like a good fit.

Alaina Sloan, M.A., LMFT-T — Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist - Temporary

Alaina found her heart for hurting families, children, couples and individuals while volunteering throughout the United States with NCCC FEMA Corps and while pursuing her passion working at Elizabeth Layton Center, a local non-profit in Paola, Kansas. Alaina has spent her time working primarily for non-profits and community health centers following graduation from College.

As a “systems” oriented therapist, Alaina believes that psychotherapy can be a path to healing, growth and greater relationship connection. Honoring the autonomy of each individual Alaina works to listen well, paying attention to each person’s differing sets of beliefs, values, culture, religion and experiences, all contributing factors that make the individual who they are. She is passionate about helping navigate the healing and growth process to ensure it fits everyone’s unique needs and goals.

On a personal note, Alaina has recently moved to Kansas from Georgia with her husband, son and dog. Alaina enjoys painting, spending time in nature, and quality time with her family. Alaina received her undergraduate degree from Pittsburg State University in Family and Consumer Sciences with an emphasis in Child Development and a Minor in Special Education. She graduated from Northcentral University with her Masters in Arts degree in Marriage and Family Therapy with a Specialization in Trauma Informed Systemic Therapy. Alaina is currently pursuing her Associates license and is under the supervision of a fully licensed clinician.

Alaina believes that one of the most important parts of a successful therapeutic experience comes down to the relationship that you are able to have with your therapist. She works to create trust and safety in the room and it is important to her that you feel that you are able to find a therapist that meets YOUR needs. Please call or email to book a consultation to chat about your specific goals and needs.

Victoria Lashley — Business Manager

I am honored to step into the role of Business Manager at Midwest Integrative Marriage & Family Therapy. My journey has been rooted in Kansas, where I grew up and learned the value of community and connection. After completing KAMS, the early college program at Fort Hays State University, I moved to Michigan to pursue my Bachelor’s in Business Administration with an emphasis in Management and a Minor in Biology at Grand Valley State University. During those years, I met my wife, built lifelong friendships, and started our little family—including our dog and cat. After graduation, we felt the pull to return home and began a new chapter here in Kansas City.

What excites me most about this work is creating the support and structure that allows our therapists to do what they do best—walk with people on their path toward healing and growth. My role is to keep things running smoothly behind the scenes, so that you and your therapist can focus fully on your journey without distraction. I believe that therapy should begin in a space that feels safe, steady, and welcoming, and I see my work as part of making that possible.

I am grateful to be a part of this community and to contribute to the mission of providing compassionate, accessible, and integrative care. I look forward to helping our practice grow in ways that serve you, your families, and our community for years to come. If you have any questions, concerns, or want to join our team, please reach out!
